Hillary Surprise – Announces the Gaffe She Regrets Most from 2016

The release and subsequent promotion of her new book, What Happened” has not exactly been all sunshine and rainbows for Hillary Clinton.

If you guessed, “We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and out of business,” you would be correct.

In Hillary Clinton’s new book, “What Happened,” Clinton said that the gaffe she regretted most from the 2016 presidential election was saying, “We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and out of business.”

During a Democratic primary debate in Ohio, Clinton infamously said that if she were elected president, “We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and out of business.”

“You say millions of words in a campaign and you do your best to be clear and accurate. Sometimes it just comes out wrong. It wasn’t the first time that happened during the 2016 election, and it wouldn’t be the last. But it is the one I regret most. The point I had wanted to make was the exact opposite of how it came out.”

“If you listened to the full answer and not just that one garbled sentence pulled out of it, my meaning comes through reasonably well,” Clinton explained. “But most people never heard that. They heard a snippet that gave the impression that I was looking forward to hurting miners and their families.”

Clinton says that she feels “absolutely sick about the whole thing,” but found the backlash “infuriating,” as it represented a double standard between her and the candidate who would eventually defeat her, Donald Trump.
