Tweeting Just Got Ivanka Into Trouble
Misquoted Tweet Goes Viral
No matter how much money, experience, fame or skill you possess, at the end of the day – nobody’s perfect.
But Ivanka is in a bit of a mess.
To be fair, she was just trying to defend her father amidst the lingering craze of impeachment that’s swept the nation. On Thursday, she believed she was quoting Alexis de Tocqueville in a tweet that read:
“’A decline of public morals in the United States will probably be marked by the abuse of the power of impeachment as a means of crushing political adversaries or ejecting them from office.’ Alexis de Tocqueville, 1835″

The problem was that this is not a quote by Tocqueville. It was actually written by John Innes Clark Hare while describing the views of Tocqueville. It’s assumed she pulled it from a Wall Street Journal article, which also provided the wrong attribution.
An even bigger problem arises here, though: She’s given the media and others an easy excuse to target her.

Twitter users are writing back, calling her a “dull-witted sycophant” and “disgraced grifter” while telling her she should “go to prison”. Plus there’s headlines such as the one published by Vanity Fair, which reads “Ivanka Trump Tweets Fake Impeachment Quote Defending President Daddy.”

We said it before, and we’ll say it again. No matter who you are, people make mistakes. Unfortunately for Ivanka, hers are ridiculed across the nation.

Melania tweeted this photo out last week and said, “Thank you to @NEAarts for all you do [to] promote the arts in every community across America!”
Fun fact: Lara Trump expected Eric (Trump’s second son) to be a bad date.

Ivanka looks like a completely different person with her brown hair! Any chance she’ll bring it back?
