Black History Month & Be Best

Melania had a great time bonding with children from Cornerstone Schools in DC on Thursday. As part of her #BeBest initiative and in honor of Black History Month, the first lady hosted young students to watch the film “Hidden Figures”.

In her Twitter post on Thursday, Melania said,

“In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, students from @CornerstoneofDC joined us at the @WhiteHouse to watch the inspirational film Hidden Figures and participate in a discussion with @NMAAHC about the vital role African American women played in the @NASA space program.”

Cornerstone Schools of DC is a Christ-centered and nurturing education program for children. It holds the strong belief that each child should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The kids keep themselves busy – according to the school’s Twitter account, they got an “up-close civics lesson” when they rallied at the Supreme Court in support of school choice programs last week.
