Global Women’s Forum
The push for women’s global development continued with full force this weekend. Ivanka met with leaders and women entrepreneurs while traveling to the UAE to speak at the two-day Global Women’s Forum.
Ivanka made a statement regarding her attendance, saying:
“I am delighted to be attending the Global Women’s Forum Dubai to advance women’s economic empowerment around the world and highlight the progress of the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP) Initiative. This initiative has impacted over 12 million women in its first year, well on its way towards our goal of economically empowering 50 million women by 2025.”
During her keynote address, Ivanka congratulated Saudi Arabia for recent laws that now allow women to obtain a passport and travel abroad without permission from a male relative.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE were ranked #1 and #2 in the World Bank’s recently released Women, Business & the Law Report. The countries each pledged $100 million to the World Bank’s Women Empowerment Fund to assist female entrepreneurs, and have been keen supporters of Ivanka’s initiative.
While traveling, Ivanka also made time to visit Abu Dhabi’s grand mosque and the Louvre Museum.
