Microsoft and Melissa: Pledge to America’s Workers
Senior advisor Ivanka Trump gave a shout-out to Microsoft on her Instagram story on Tuesday, saying:
“Thanks to @Microsoft’s pledge, single mother Melissa Curry went back to work after being laid off from her 10-year career as a casino dealer. Today, Melissa is a program manager at Microsoft @Azure!”
Situations like Curry’s are the reason why Pledge to America’s Workers has had its success. With a high-energy growth environment, the private sector must work to ensure that the skills needed to fill new jobs are met successfully.
Microsoft has pledged 10,000 new opportunities for the American worker, according to the The White House. The multinational technology company is only one of many large employers who have signed the pledge, including Walmart, FedEx, Lockheed Martin, and AT&T.
