Nikki Haley: ‘How many more people could have been helped with this money?’
Former U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, is not afraid to speak her mind when it comes to politics.
She recently criticized the $2 trillion economic stimulus package, which passed in the Senate late Wednesday night, for its heavy funding of the arts.
Though some of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s provisions, laid out in her counterproposal on Monday, were removed from the stimulus package, part of her ‘liberal agenda’ still remained.
“These are the items included in the stimulus bill,” said Haley in a tweet earlier today. “$75 mill for public television/radio, $25 mil for the Kennedy Center, $75 mil for the Natl Endowment for the Arts, $75 mill for the Natl Endowment for the Humanities.”
“How many more people could have been helped with this money?”
Her frustration didn’t stop there. Haley recently left the Boeing board after they demanded $60 billion in federal aid as part of the relief package from Congress.Â
“I don’t have to issue a query for Boeing,” she wrote in a tweet. “They chose to ask for a bailout and I chose to resign. Stimulus packages should be about fairness to all people, not just those who Congress thinks are special.”
She also took a jab at the World Health Organization, saying, “Let’s be clear: The WHO delayed calling the virus a health emergency and then criticized U.S. travel restrictions placed on China. The WHO was trying to save China its embarrassment. And still, China wouldn’t cooperate transparently with the WHO.”
Haley has always been known as a fierce voice in Washington, and many are hopeful she’ll become the Republican nominee in 2024.
