Schiff blames U.S. coronavirus death count on failed impeachment of President Trump
On MSNBC Monday night, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) made the assertion that U.S. coronavirus deaths were “casualties” of President Donald Trump, that a successful impeachment could have lowered the U.S. death count.
“We can’t act even slightly surprised by this because you told us this was going to happen in your argument in the Senate impeachment trial,” said anchor Lawrence O’Donnell.
“The one thing we dramatically understated is when we asked the question, ‘If you found him guilty, do you really need to remove him given there is another election only nine months away, how much damage could he really do,’” replied Schiff.
“We said a lot, but little did we know just how great the casualties would be,” he continued. “Some days we lose the equivalent of the number of people we lost on 9/11. You know, I think that there is no way we could have foreseen just how tragic his malfeasance would be in his remaining months in the administration.”
In March, The Federalist published a detailed timeline of Trump’s coronavirus response:
“On Jan. 30, the WHO declared a global health emergency of international concern.
“On Jan. 30, the CDC confirmed publicly for the first time the person-to-person spread of Wuhan virus and applauded WHO’s decision. That day, the president created the White House Coronavirus Task Force to coordinate efforts regarding this new disease.
“The next day, Jan. 31, the president declared coronavirus a U.S. public health emergency and issued the ban on travel between the United States and China. On that same day, the Senate voted on the production of additional documents in the impeachment trial of President Trump. Campaigning in Iowa that day, Biden criticized President Trump’s China travel ban, saying during an Iowa campaign event, ‘This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia.’
“Feb. 4: The White House directed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to step up coronavirus diagnostic testing procedures.”
The list goes on.
What were the Democrats doing between January 30 and February 5? Worrying about impeachment. If anyone other than the Chinese Communist Party has blood on their hands, it is the Democrats.
