Schumer on Trump: ‘Even if it [coronavirus] came from China wrongly, why didn’t you do something about it?’
In a press conference on Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) falsely claimed that President Trump has done nothing to protect the country against the novel coronavirus.
“He spends half his time on whims, medicines that don’t work. He spends half his time on blaming other people, or other issues,” said Schumer. “You know, he’s now blaming China. Well, guess what Mr. President? Even if it came from China, and even if it came from China wrongly, why didn’t you do something about it? South Korea did. Australia did. The idea is to deal with the problem, not just spend all your time with pointing fingers of blame. It doesn’t make anybody better.”
However, Trump and his administration have done a lot for this country amid the pandemic, and certainly much more than anyone on the Left.
On January 30, the day the WHO declared the coronavirus to be an international health emergency, Trump created the White House Coronavirus Task Force to begin coordinating efforts to combat the disease. The next day, he banned travel to and from China.
On February 4, the Trump administration directed the FDA to ramp up coronavirus testing procedures. That same day, Trump addressed the coronavirus in his State of the Union Address, the same address House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) unprofessionally tore in half while the entire nation was watching.

Since his address, he has worked tirelessly to give states the ventilators, PPE and hospital beds necessary to combat the virus; banned travel to and from Europe; closed our Northern and Southern borders to all non-essential travel; and much, much more. Not to mention, remdesivir, a drug about which the president has been optimistic, has been shown to, “have a clear-cut, significant, positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci. So, it’s not true that all the medicines on which Trump has been focused have not worked. But giving the president credit where credit is due is not in the Democrats’ ‘Win the Election’ handbook.
What have Democrats done? Well, that’s the question. Other than trying to illegally remove the president from office, or encourage Americans to gather in large groups in Chinatown, there isn’t much to report on their efforts. Perhaps Schumer should take his own advice — stop blaming others and do something.
