Sanders and Gabbard take 25 percent of votes in Biden’s hometown
Pennsylvania’s primary election was held on Tuesday, June 3, and polls are reporting that Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) is projected to win 19 percent of the state’s votes, as well as 19 percent of Lackawanna County’s votes — Joe Biden’s hometown. Tulsi Gabbard is projected to take three percent of the state’s votes and 6.5 percent of the votes in Lackawanna County.
Though he’s the last man standing, Biden still could not capture more than 74 percent of voters in his own hometown.
Biden became the presumptive Democratic nominee on April 8 after Sanders suspended his campaign. As the nation grappled with the fallout of the coronavirus, Biden remained holed up in his basement, refusing to hit the campaign trail.
Though many on the Democratic side would want Americans to believe that the coronavirus is what held Biden back, with much of the nation closed as “experts” encouraged all Americans to shelter-in-place until further notice, it has become more and more apparent that Biden remained hidden away because he is a weak candidate, Tuesday’s election being the perfect illustration of that fact.
Biden has made blunder after blunder. About a week before the death of George Floyd, and the nationwide protests and riots that have followed, Biden suggested that if you don’t vote for him in November, well then “you ain’t black.”
In March, sexual assault allegations from Tara Reade, a former Biden staffer, came to light, and when finally pressed on the issue, he said: “I think they should vote their heart and if they believe Tara Reade, they probably shouldn’t vote for me. I wouldn’t vote for me if I believed Tara Reade.”
Though Biden has finally come out of the basement, his deficiencies are becoming more obvious. On Monday, when speaking with black community leaders in Wilmington, Del., Biden suggested that a way to end police brutality against black Americans would be to train officers to “shoot [unarmed persons] in the leg instead of in the heart.”
Of course, this comment had nothing to do with the death of George Floyd, who was literally choked to death — it was just another one of Biden’s sad attempts to appeal to minority voters, further proving his inability to understand complex issues and create real solutions, or, you know, pay attention.
Biden has proven to be an ineffectual speaker and a lackluster leader. The only things going for him are his Barack Obama endorsement and his promise to select a female VP, though many are upset over his choices there as well.
Maybe America should follow the lead of the 25 percent of voters in Lackawanna County and dump Biden this November.
