Hillary Clinton: It is a mystery why anybody with a beating heart and a working mind still supports Trump
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blasted President Donald Trump for his response to the death of George Floyd. Clinton said that Trump has been a failure across the board.
“It is a mystery why anybody with a beating heart and a working mind still supports him,” Clinton said.
The 2016 Democrat presidential nominee said that Trump is constantly trying to make everything about himself.
“If it’s about a terrible pandemic with an unprecedented virus, he tries to ignore it, tries to keep the attention on himself,” Clinton told the Los Angeles Times. “Then when it becomes impossible to do that, he tries to seize the moment and turn it into a daily rally, like he loves to do.”
Clinton went on to say “when we have a terrible killing like we did in Minneapolis, he makes some steps to look like he’s going to be empathetic but he doesn’t have even the minor amount of empathy to fake it, to look like he is concerned, and he reverts to the belligerence and the threat-making and the photo-opping, all the tried-and-true tactics that feed his need for control and dominance and attention.”
Clinton, who was defeated by Trump in a humiliating upset to her political career has resurfaced in 2020 to again lend her support to Democrats. Earlier this month she claimed Trump’s use of force with protesters was just for a photo op.
“Tonight the President of the United States used the American military to shoot peaceful protestors with rubber bullets & tear gas them. For a photo op. This is a horrifying use of presidential power against our own citizens, & has no place anywhere, let alone in America. Vote,” Clinton Tweeted.
The former first lady and senator also recently authored a story on the social media channel, Medium, with her response to the Floyd killing.
“For many white people, conversations about systemic racism and our own privilege are uncomfortable,” wrote Clinton. “Here’s what I’ve learned over the years: That discomfort is a good thing. It’s a necessary part of examining our own biases and actions, and our own role in perpetuating inequality.”
Clinton says that even she’s been shocked by Trump’s actions despite getting to know him well on the campaign trail.
“Despite having my own front-row seat and being concerned about his character and behavior, he has gone further and broken more norms and undermined our institutions more deeply than I thought would have been possible in such a short period of time,” she said.
Clinton says she is focusing her efforts these days on getting a nationwide vote by mail system in place. She recognizes it will be an uphill battle but says by expanding vote by mail, Democrat chances of winning go up.
