Susan Rice: Trump supporters in Senate belong to the ‘trash heap of history’
Former Obama administration National Security Adviser Susan Rice told MSNBC on Friday that President Donald Trump’s supporters in the U.S. Senate belong “to the trash heap of history.”
Rice is a possible vice-presidential candidate for Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
“This election is about getting Joe Biden in the White House. Someone who could remove Donald Trump and consign those who supported him in the Senate to the trash heap of history,” Rice said on MSNBC.
The former national security adviser called the Trump White House “racist to the core.”
“You know, to serve an administration which has been racist to its core for the last three and a half years, from comparing the peaceful protesters at Charlottesville to white supremacists, calling white supremacists very fine people, all the way through to the recent weeks where the administration has disparaged the Black Lives Matter movement, disparaged the peaceful protesters, and basically made plain that they prefer to stand by a Confederate legacy than a modern America, it’s been an administration whose record on race is just disgraceful,” Rice said.
President Trump’s campaign called for Biden to denounce Rice’s comments.
“WATCH: Joe Biden’s potential running mate Susan Rice says President Trump’s supporters deserve to be consigned “to the trash heap of history.” Biden must immediately denounce this bigotry and hatred,” the campaign tweeted.
Immediately after the offensive comments, Rice said Biden was someone who could heal and unify the nation.
Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk called on Americans to remember the reterhoic of the left in November.
“Obama called us ‘bitter clingers,’ Hillary called us ‘Deplorables,’ Joe Biden said ’10-15% of Americans aren’t very good people,’ Susan Rice said Trump supporters should be condemned to ‘the trash heap of history.’ This is how Democrats see us. Remember that in November,” Kirk tweeted.
Rice has repeatedly indicated she would say yes if Biden asked her to be his running mate, and recently she has been reported to be on a very shortlist of contenders, as Biden faces increased pressure to pick a black woman in light of nationwide protests over police brutality and racial tensions.
