Tucker Carlson blasts New York Times for invasion of privacy
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson went after The New York Times on Monday during his show, claiming that the national paper is planning to run a story that includes the conservative host’s home address.
“Last week The New York Times began working on a story about where my family and I live. As a matter of journalism there is no conceivable justification for a story like that,” Carlson said on air. “The paper is not alleging we’ve done anything wrong, and we haven’t. We pay our taxes. We like our neighbors. We’ve never had a dispute with anyone.”
Carlson went on to say the potential story was an attempt to silence him from his attacks against them and other liberal publications.
“So why is The New York Times doing a story on the location of my family’s house? Well, you know why. To hurt us, to injure my wife and kids so that I will shut up and stop disagreeing with them,” Carlson said.
The private residences of controversial media personalities are often kept secret to protect them and their families from angry viewers. Carlson noted that when a previous address of his was leaked, his family had to move due to threats. That took place back in 2018 when Antifa members were banging on the Fox host’s door. Carlson said that his wife was forced to hide in one of their home’s closets until police arrived as he wasn’t home at the time.
The New York Times fired back at Carlson in a prepared statement.
“While we do not confirm what may or may not publish in future editions, The New York Times does not plan to expose any residence of Tucker Carlson’s, which Carlson was aware of before his broadcast,” the statement read.
Carlson told viewers he’s convinced the Times is attempting to shut down his show.
“They want this show off the air. If one of my children gets hurt because of a story they wrote, they won’t consider it collateral damage,” Carlson said Monday night. “They know it’s the whole point of the exercise to inflict pain on our family, to terrorize us, to control what we say.”
“Tucker Carlson Tonight” is currently the most-watched cable news program averaging more than 4.3 million viewers per night.
