AOC reacts with poem after being told about convention speech limit

Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) posted a poetic response on Twitter after getting news that her Democrat convention remarks would be limited to one minute and would need to be pre-recorded.

She tweeted:

Establishment Democrats have worried about a progressive revolt during the convention that will look toward embarrassing Presidential nominee-to-be Joe Biden, who is considered too old, too white and too conservative by the progressive children who make up the far-left wing of the party.

Two weeks ago, an ally of former candidate presidential candidate, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), told the Atlantic that voting for Joe Biden would be like eating a bowl of human excrement.

“It’s like saying to somebody,” said former Sanders chair, Nina Turner, “‘You have a bowl of sh-t in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still sh-t.”

Sanders and progressive elements had just finished wrestling with Democrat establishment types over platform issues such as Medicaid-for-All.

The fight over the platform degenerated into accusations from both sides that the other side was being disrespectful.

The fracas over convention time is just a continuation of that fight.

“What a slap to the Progressive wing. It’s a constant spite of us. They think we will cower and peter our. They are wrong. We ain’t going anywhere. With @AOC as our leader we’re just getting started. Now that the squad was re-elected we are ready to rumble in the halls of Congress,” replied one progressive in response to AOC’s poem.

Said another Twitter progressive: “I completely understand and respect those voting for Biden for some sort of lesser evil and get [T]rump out of office thing, but don’t come at people with how joe Biden actually is progressive and [K]amala is a good person.”

Progressive Democrats are notoriously thin-skinned, especially AOC herself, who has often set the tone of petulant pouting amongst progressives when dealing with party leaders.

Last year AOC publicly criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for “the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color,” when Pelosi called her out for Tweeting negative things about other Democrats.

“These people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” Pelosi said about AOC’s progressive camp in the party. “But they didn’t have any following.”
