Klacik makes strong appeal to Black Americans: ‘Days of blindly supporting the Democrats are coming to an end’
Kim Klacik (R-MD), the Baltimore congressional candidate who is running for the seat of the late Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), addressed the Republican National Committee Monday night using the same strong message as her viral video: Black people can’t trust liberal Democrats, and they can simply tour her district in Baltimore to see for themselves.
“Do you care about Black lives? The people that run Baltimore don’t,” Klacik challenged in her viral video.
“Democrats don’t want you to see this. They’re scared that I’m exposing what life is like in Democrat-run cities. That’s why I’m running for Congress. Because all Black lives matter. Baltimore matters. And Black people don’t have to vote Democrat.”
Klacik, 38, cited crumbling inner-city Baltimore, with miles of abandoned homes, crushing poverty and skyrocketing crime rates in her viral video, which has already had more than 10 million views.
“The worst place for a Black person to live in America is a Democrat-controlled city,” she says in the ad. “It’s 2020. Name a blue city where Black people’s lives have gotten better. Try.”
Her address to the convention tonight was more of the same.
Klacik told Americans that the failures in Baltimore now see more Black Republicans running for office than in any other place in America. And that’s not because Democrats who control Baltimore have done a great job.
“The days of blindly supporting the Democrats are coming to an end,” she warned.
She blasted Joe Biden for his recent widely-criticized comments saying that any Black person who votes for Donald Trump isn’t really Black.
“He thinks we can’t think for ourselves,” she said about Biden’s dismissive attitude toward Black Republicans.
“We want a chance to get ahead not just get by,” she added.
Klacik had a laundry list of things that can help lift the Black population in Baltimore, including school choice and more enterprise zones, programs that Democrats typically oppose.
“President Trump is bringing back this country,” she said tonight. “I’m asking you to help me start this great Baltimore comeback.”
“Kimberly will work with the Trump Administration and we will bring Baltimore back, and fast. Don’t blow it Baltimore, the Democrats have destroyed your city!” Trump tweeted after her video went viral.
Previously, Klacik lost a special vacancy election her current Democrat opponent Kweisi Mfume after the death of Cummings, 73-27 percent. Mfume is running to retain the seat.
Prior to running for office, Klacik ran a non-profit dedicated to providing professional attire to young women just starting out in their careers, who couldn’t always afford the proper clothes. She also wrote about conservative issues for Politichicks and was a commentator on Fox News.
