Trump in Florida: ‘Joe Biden is weak as hell’
President Donald Trump was back in his new home state of Florida on Thursday for a rally in Jacksonville. Most of his speech focused on what has become a major theme of his 2020 campaign: law and order.
“Joe Biden is weak as hell,” the president said. “He wants to eradicate prisons and thinks law enforcement is the enemy. Biden’s anti-police crusade must stop.”
Trump discussed the Wednesday night shooting of police officers in Louisville, Kentucky. Massive protests exploded there after no police were charged directly with the death of Breonna Taylor.
“Law enforcement, let’s give them a hand, please,” Trump said. The crowd responded by chanting “Back the blue.”
The president again tied Biden to the radical left portion of the Democratic Party and said he’s remained silent on much of the civil unrest in the country.
“For the entire summer, Joe Biden was silent as his far-left supporters assaulted police officers, harassed innocent Americans, and set fire to buildings,” he said. “They were rioters, they were looters, they were anarchists. He called them peaceful protesters.”
Trump said as president he will always stand with the heroes of law enforcement and listed his many endorsements from police organizations.
“New York’s finest endorsed me! They’ve never endorsed a presidential candidate,” he said to cheers.
The president also said that Biden’s plans would crush Florida but his plan would crush the virus, referring to COVID-19.
“We’re rounding the turn. Under my leadership, prosperity will surge,” Trump said. “Normal life will fully resume.”
Despite polls showing the race in a virtual tie in Florida, Trump pointed to the thousands that are attending his rallies and said he’s confident he’ll not only win the state but the election.
“Forty days from now, we’re going to win Florida, we’re going to win four more years in the White House,” Trump said. “This is the most important election in the history of our country.”
