Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson endorses Joe Biden

After starting his career as a professional wrestler with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has moved on to a promising film career. The wrestler turned actor has amassed millions of fans and has even been encouraged to run for president himself. For now, though, he’s throwing his support behind Democrat Joe Biden.

“As a political independent and centrist for many years, I’ve voted for Democrats in the past and as well as Republican,” Johnson said. “In this critical election, I believe Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the best to lead our country, and as my first ever public presidential endorsement, I proudly endorse them for the presidential office of our United States.”

Johnson made his announcement in a video posted to his social media channels that included an interview with Biden and Harris. The movie star called both candidates experienced to lead.

“Joe you’ve had such an incredible career. You’ve led, in my opinion, with great compassion, and heart, and drive, but also soul,” Johnson said.

After praising both Biden and Harris, Johnson asked the leaders how they planned to earn the respect Americans if elected to White House?

“By keeping our word. By leveling with the American people. By taking responsibility,” Biden said. “When we fail, acknowledge it. We’re not going to be perfect, but take responsibility.”

Harris said earning respect is about trust.

“One of the foundations of trust is truth. You must speak truth but here’s the reality: truth can sometimes be really difficult to hear and for that reason sometimes people don’t speak it but you cannot have trust if you don’t speak truth,” she said.

Johnson told his followers that he has friends in both parties, but the one thing they can always agree on is the conservation and the dialogue, and where that conversation lands is always the most critical part of democracy.

Biden shared the interview on his Twitter thanking the actor for his support. As of Sunday, the video has over 9 million views on Twitter.
