Mass letters to pro-Trump homeowners threaten to torch and destroy their properties if he stays in office
Politics ain’t beanbag.
So maintained Finley Peter Dunne, a newspaper columnist who spun his yarns around the turn of the 20th century and years afterward.
A case out of New Hampshire proves his point.
There, police in the towns of Milford and Brookline are investigating a letter sent by someone, or some group, threatening to torch the homes of President Donald Trump’s supporters.
“Dear neighbor,” the letter began, “You have been identified by our group as being a Trump supporter. Your address has been added to our database as a target when we attack should Trump not concede the election. We recommend that you check your home insurance policy and make that it is current and that it has adequate coverage for fire damage. You have been given ‘Fair Warning.’”
These fliers are being left in Kansas City neighborhoods. This on top of our former KS National Committeeman getting run over on his yard due to his Trump sign. Please pray that America will reject this violence and hate. pic.twitter.com/vQlb1ZqiVg— Matt Schlapp (@mschlapp) October 19, 2020
“Always remember that it was ‘You’ that started this Civil War,” the letter continues. “Be prepared to face the severe consequences of your pre-emptive actions against democracy.”
The homeowners were chosen because they outwardly displayed support for Trump with flags and yard signs. The same letter has also turned up in neighborhoods around Kansas City.
In New Hampshire, the local cops have called in the state attorney general’s office, and have tipped off the U.S. Postal Service, in the belief the threat could be a federal offense.
The police chief in Brookline told local media that he was “kind of quite shocked” that such a letter would actually be sent.
Apparently, the chief has not been paying attention.
In the most extreme examples of hate, at least three Trump backers — in Milwaukee, Portland and Denver — have been shot to death since mid-August for standing with the president.
But deranged liberals in other parts of America have routinely shot at Trump fans, tried to run them over at rallies, and beaten or punched them. They’ve been pelted with eggs, spat on and generally intimated in public settings. Women and children, some as young as 7, have not been out of bounds for left-wing goons who increasingly are making political violence a routine thing.
Meanwhile, Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, steadfastly refuse to condemn groups like Antifa and Black LIves Matter for their hateful acts.
And when it doesn’t involve actual violence, anti-Trump liberals threaten to ruin the lives and livelihoods of pro-Trumpers through cancel culture.
But, of course, Democrats and the national media turn a blind eye and accuse Trump of inciting people and normalizing violence, and it is the Republicans who, in the eyes of their critics, must atone for the charged climate.
In speeches and at rallies Trump routinely reminds his faithful that leftist rage targeting him is really meant for them. It seems after a summer of shooting and mayhem, it’s more than just rhetoric.
