Anybody home? Major outlets suspiciously silent on Biden’s ‘America was an idea we’ve never lived up to’ comments
Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.
The mainstream media are notoriously biased against Republicans. It’s not a new condition, but one that has certainly intensified with President Donald Trump in the White House.
As Trump battles Democrat Joe Biden for a second term, the media’s GOP-bashing sin of commission is being replaced by one of omission. And it’s not just by failing to offer detailed reporting on Hunter Biden’s corrupt scheming, and whatever side action “the Big Guy” may have taken as that occurred.
Instead, the media’s failure now is a flat refusal to unpack Biden’s countless lies and continuing gaffes.
Appearing on podcaster Brene Brown’s show on Wednesday, the former vice president had a moment reminiscent of Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” insult of Trump supporters from 2016.
“America was an idea, an idea,” said Biden.
“‘We hold these truths to be self-evident.’ We’ve never lived up to it, but we’ve never walked away from it before. And I just think we have to be more honest. Let our kids know, as we raise them, what actually did happen. Acknowledge our mistakes so we don’t repeat them.”
Biden then doubled down on the comment by tweeting it: “America was an idea. We’ve never lived up to it but we’ve never walked away from it before.”

This is a special insult to our nation, since Biden, with his “idea” language, is pairing America with the violent Antifa thugs.
It’s also ridiculous, as if we as a people “never lived up to” our ideals by fighting a civil war to free slaves that killed 600,000 Americans in the process, by winning two world wars to save the West from tyrants and staring down a pair of nuclear-armed powers for a half-century to preserve our freedom. And let’s not forget how we “never lived up” to our national mission statement by electing a Black man president – twice.
Conservatives rightly and eagerly slammed Biden for such nonsense.
BizPac Review, Fox News, and other major conservative news outlets picked up on Biden denouncing his own country.
But from the liberal mainstream media: crickets.
A search of the terms “Biden” “America” “idea” “never” yielded nothing about Biden’s remarks to Brown on liberals’ favorite media sources: ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
A search of Brene Brown also came up empty in reference to her interview with Biden.
Four years ago, the liberal insult mill churned out the idea that Trump was popular with “low information voters,” whom the Washington Post once defined as “those who do not know certain basic facts about government and lack what psychologists call a ‘need for cognition.’”
The Post’s point was that these folks fed off emotional reactions to news events, rather than thinking them through.
That would be a hard sell to rational people today, considering the tantrums the Army of the Resistance has thrown since Jan. 20, 2017.
Perhaps the term should be tweaked.
Given the fuzzy, velvety kid gloves the leading lights of our news industry are using with scandal-draped Joe Biden, we should call their readers and audiences “no information voters.”
