Cops call Philly area ‘total loss’ as protesters beat reporter, attack cops in looting clashes
The second night of looting in Philadelphia after cops killed a Black man attacking them with a knife has police calling the looted area “a total loss,” and has been marked by violent clashes between police and looters and the beating of one journalist.
Walter Wallace Jr, 27, was seen on video stalking and then attacking officers before cops opened fire and shot him several times. The cops warned the man off continuously.
“Phila. Police commanders say the situation has ‘rapidly gone downhill’ along Aramingo Ave. — a ‘total loss,’ they say, from looting. Chopper 3 shows video of demonstrators & police at 52nd and Chestnut. As of this post, no injuries to police tonight. @CBSPhilly,” said reporter Joe Holden of local CBS News 3, flying above the city in the stations helicopter.

Tweets from the Blaze show their reporter Elijah Schaffer with a split upper lip. He says he was beaten by looters for filming the looting.
“BREAKING: I was jumped by BLM rioters while they were looting more than a dozen stores, including Wal-Matt, T-Mobile, & 5-below Though in pain, I didn’t stop reporting because Americans need to see what the corporate media refuses to show,” Schaffer said.

The city asked residents to stay inside in West and North Philadelphia as police in riot gear confronted rioters. Schaffer however said that police were thin on the ground, in no way prepared for the rioting. He also noted the absence of the state’s National Guard.
“*Alert* A large crowd of appx 1000 is looting businesses in the area of Castor and Aramingo. Avoid the area,” said the police Twitter feed.

Video from the area shows hundreds of looters ransacking a local Walmart, carrying off big box items while cars wait nearby to load up on stolen booty.
“Wow. Look at all them Proud Boys and white supremacists looting that Walmart in Philly,” said one Twitter user sarcastically, mocking the establishment custom of touting “White supremacy” every time looting or Antifa is brought up.
“We cannot accept that in this country a mental health crisis ends in death,” said Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden in a statement about the rioting, advancing the claim that the Black man was mentally ill. “It makes the shock and grief and violence of yesterday’s shooting that much more painful, especially for a community that has already endured so much trauma.”

The night started with marches to the local precinct, says Fox News.
“What I need y’all officers to know is you will treat us like humans,” Brandon Jones, a Black motivational speaker told police in riot gear according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “When you take off those uniforms, you look just like us, you live in neighborhoods just like us.”
Yes, and we need people to treat cops like humans too.
