Scarborough compares Trump to Stalin, while Olbermann calls for his arrest

On Friday morning’s airing of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough called President Trump’s Thursday speech “very sad and pathetic.” He then went on to compare the president to Joseph Stalin and to accuse him of intentionally fomenting violence while addressing his audience on his show.

“Mitch McConnell said, ‘Hey, we’re going to count all the votes,’ so not sure what Donald Trump is talking about,” stated Scarborough Friday morning. “Marco Rubio said the same thing, we’re going to count the votes.”

“And we’re hearing that really from most Republicans, even Mike Pence last night after the president’s very sad and pathetic statement on television that, by the way, for good reason, most networks broke away from because he was spreading disinformation that I think was intended to foment violence,” Scarborough went on, noting that Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post also took issue with Trump’s address.

Scarborough also asserted in his segment that he “talked to one of Trump’s closest confidants yesterday and he was laughing at the fact that Donald Trump is looking for his James Baker, and this confidant of Trump said he got rid of all of them four years ago.” He did not say who the confidant was or give any specifics on the discussion.

“It’s laughable. It’s like when Hitler invaded Russia, Stalin’s generals couldn’t fight them because all of Stalin’s generals had been purged five years earlier,” he pointed out. “So Trump finds himself in his own political battle of Stalingrad and he doesn’t have any generals around. He doesn’t have any James Bakers around.”

“He’s pushed everybody out of his orbit that had any intelligence, any capabilities, any abilities to actually work on issues like this because all he wanted were yes-men and relatives who quite frankly have never been up to the job,” Scarborough said taking another swing at those surrounding the president including his family.

Scarborough has compared Trump to Stalin a number of times. “Of all the things — the shocking things the president has said, and he’s said so many, channeling Chairman Mao and Joseph Stalin by calling the media ‘enemy of the people,'” Scarborough said on MSBC’s “Morning Joe” back in 2017.

Scarborough joins a long list of high-profile Democrats who are decrying the president for his speech yesterday. Stephen Colbert referred to Trump as ‘fascist’ and as trying to push election poison. Keith Olbermann ranted that “TRUMP MUST BE REMOVED AND ARRESTED, TONIGHT. Gripped by a paranoid delusion, threatening the nation’s safety, this can’t wait any longer. It won’t happen; in fact, he’ll probably concede and instantly announce he’s running in ’24.”

During his address on Thursday, President Trump stated, “If you count the legal votes, I easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us.”
