‘Yeah, I’m politicizing it’: Cuomo weaponizes Veterans Day to shame ‘GOP enablers’

CNN’s Chris Cuomo politically weaponized Veterans Day in a move to shame ‘GOP enablers’ for supporting President Trump’s efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential election results. On Wednesday, he opened his show by honoring the men and women in uniform and their families, but then he pivoted to attacking President Trump and the Republicans over their legal battles in various battleground states and for not aiding in the peaceful transition of power for projected President-elect Joe Biden.

“May we take the message of this day, the idea of putting nation before self, even committing to the ultimate sacrifice more to heart. Yeah, I’m politicizing it,” the “Cuomo Prime Time” host stated. “And I’m looking at you, GOP enablers, and you know why.”

He went on to explain the origins of what was previously called Armistice Day that marked the end of World War I, which was “the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” back in 1918.

“Well, it’s the 11th hour now after this election and these GOP cronies know it is over. Shame on you,” Cuomo chastised conservatives, “for allowing crazy to become contagious as covid in your ranks. Why do you think Trump is ousting Pentagon leadership and loading up with loyalists. Maybe it’s for troop withdraw. Maybe it’s to get Russian information released. And maybe it is because he is twisted enough to try to do something way worse.”

He commanded his viewers, “Remember who said nothing. Remember their shame.”

Cuomo heavily praised Biden for “planning to take on the pandemic” as president-elect and blamed President Trump for not acknowledging the spikes of coronavirus cases across the nation.

He then once again started scolding Republicans.

“This goes way beyond Trump. Trump is toxic- surprise. However, the real surprise is the blame that must be put who ignore and therefore empower. And those who say, ‘They should just run its course!’ Running its course means transition and they know it!” Cuomo exclaimed. “I’m telling you, remember the people who are enabling this fraud. They must answer for defending Trump’s delusions. They are remaining silent when it matters most.” Some are saying this sounds like a call for an enemies list.

Along with attempting to shame Republicans over vote counts and what Cuomo claims is ‘absolutely no evidence of voter fraud’, he threatened that “they are going to lose way more than this election.”

He went on to hit back at Republicans who refuse to publicly acknowledge “President-elect Biden,” linking the lawmakers to “great company” that includes Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un.

“Even Karl Rove, remember him? He penned an op-ed saying this is over,” Cuomo added. “Do you know how toxically partisan you have to be for Karl Rove to be more fair to Democrats than you? And remember, the shame is that this is a game for them.”

After playing a video of Republicans and Trump campaign officials calling out Democrats for not accepting the results of the 2016 election, Cuomo made his apparent threat: “Shame on them. A wax museum is less cold-blooded than these people are. And let them know they are going to lose way more than this election,” he stressed.

Ignoring the fact that some Democrats refused to go to Trump’s inauguration and then spent four years claiming he was an “illegitimate” president, Cuomo showed another montage claiming the exact opposite had happened:

“This matters. What they’re playing at now matters. This isn’t tax, don’t tax. This isn’t who lies, who doesn’t lie. This is what lies at the heart of our democracy, and they know it. Hillary Clinton, say what you want, she promptly conceded even though she spanked them in the popular vote. Why? That’s what our system demands. Other Democrats swiftly came to terms with Trump’s victory.”
