‘StopTheTires2020’: Truckers vow to strike over Biden’s policy threats
A Trump-friendly organization of truck drivers that has formed a Facebook group called StopTheTires2020 plans to shut down operations later this month to protest Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden’s anti-fracking policies. A trial run, or perhaps non-run, occurred on Veterans’ Day to some degree.
On the grassroots group’s private Facebook page, which now has 60,000-plus members, organizer Jeremy Rewoldt discussed the basis for a potential truckers strike to simulate how a fracking ban would negatively impact America.
“President Trump has worked diligently for four long years to protect the rights and freedoms of all Americans, and very importantly the blue-collar workers of this country….We will not participate in the leftist, Biden/Harris Green New Deal. We do not support the banning of fracking. The United States of America operates as a capitalistic economy and OIL is the fuel she survives on.
“With this being said, we will STOP ALL TIRES 24 hours on Veterans Day 11/11/20. If this is not effective and our leaders do not respect that blue-collar truck drivers are having to face domestic terrorism, primarily in democrat run cities all over the United States, and that we do not support the banning of fracking in any way, then we will have our second STOP OF TIRES for FOUR full days 11/26/20-11/29/20,” Rewoldt asserted.
Rewoldt underscored that the intent of this movement is not to harm anyone, and with that in mind, he asked truck drivers who deliver medical supplies to not participate in this protest. Alluding to the possibility that Facebook could ban the group at any moment, he asked readers to spread the word about StopTheTires2020 on other social media outlets.
In a Veterans Day appearance on Fox and Friends First, Rewoldt outlined the philosophy that the group espouses:
“Today is just about getting the word out for all of us drivers so we can come together for the bigger movement, as we want to call it, on the 26th that will be a four-day event…The repercussion [a fracking ban] could have is bad. However, I think it’s the only way that we can show America and all of us here that reside here what could possibly happen. Last time, four or six years ago, when we had Biden in a position of power, how much was our fuel prices?”
“How much are they going to shut off the independent truck driver, the independent blue-collar worker…All those gas prices are going to cripple everything. So why not show him what it’s like to have none of us,” Rewoldt concluded.
According to Fox News, a Biden fracking ban could eliminate a staggering 7.5 million jobs over the next two years. U.S. Census Bureau statistics indicate that military veterans make up at least 10 percent of the trucking workforce.
Reacting to Biden’s possible flip-flop or equivocation an on all-out fracking ban, Rewoldt quipped that “he’s been a politician for 47 years. What can you believe.” Rewoldt also noted that his driver income under the Trump administration rose about 5 percent, which provided a significant boost for he and his family.
Sounding like they mean business, truckers around the country are also chiming in via social media about potentially walking off the job. Here is a representative sample:
