‘They’ve gone around the bend’: Megyn Kelly blasts far-left NYC schools, explains why she’s moving

Megyn Kelly says she’s yanking her three kids out of their prestigious, pricey, and far-left private schools and moving away from New York City altogether because the woke indoctrination has gone too far. A letter evoking what amounts to a form of critical race theory finalized the family decision, the former Fox News and NBC News host implied.

“It’s out of control on so many levels. After years of resisting it, we’re going to leave the city. We pulled our boys from their school, and our daughter is going to be leaving hers soon, too,” the now independent journalist revealed on her podcast during a discussion with guests Prof. Glenn Loury and writer Coleman Hughes.

“The schools have always been far-left, which doesn’t align with my own ideology, but I didn’t really care, most of my friends are liberals, it’s fine. I come from a Democrat family, I’m not offended at all by the ideology, and I lean center-left on some things. But they’ve gone around the bend. I mean they’ve gone off the deep end.”

Kelly was triggered by a letter circulated to faculty and the diversity group, including parents, at her son’s school in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in police custody.

The text of the controversial letter, some of which she read on the podcast, claimed among other things that “there is a killer cop sitting in every school where white children learn,” and “They happily believe their all-white spaces exist as a matter of personal effort and willingly use violence against black bodies to keep those spaces white.”

“That’s straightforwardly racist,” Loury remarked.

“Which boy in my school is the future killer cop?” Kelly, a former corporate lawyer prior to her TV career who turned 50 this week, wondered. “Is it my boy? Which boy is it? Because I don’t happen to believe that they’re in there.” Kelly noted that this kind of material is poisoning the well in the educational setting.

According to various news reports, the content in the letter was purportedly written by Nahliah Webber, executive director of the nonprofit Orleans Public Education Network, and purportedly derived from a blog post.

Leftists who push identify politics apparently don’t seem to realize that Title VII of the U.S. Civil Rights Act, and its state-level analogs, prohibit discrimination on the basis of race.

Particularly since launching her podcast in September and hitting the interview circuit to promote it, and whether or not it is opportunism, Megyn Kelly has trended to the ideological right in her opinions, although as she indicated above, she also holds some center-left views.

For reasons that have been well documented, Kelly never meshed with the liberal NBC News culture when she tried to transform herself from a hard-news anchor to a daytime lifestyle diva. Megyn did depart the Peacock network with a full contract payout, however, which reportedly totaled $69 million.

Although Kelly hasn’t yet identified a timetable for the big move or where she and her novelist husband and the kids are headed, but exiting a deep blue enclave for a more business- and family-friendly red state has become a thing for media pundits especially when technology renders geography less relevant.
