Nikki Haley has it out with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over her insane pandemic solution

Former South Carolina Governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley got into a Twitter spat with Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) after AOC declared that her solution to the pandemic was for everyone to get paid to stay home. The tweet went viral on social media and was roundly attacked by Haley.

“To get the virus under control, we need to pay people to stay home,” AOC tweeted. That same sentiment has also come from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who also called for the cancellation of debt and mortgage payments.

Haley’s response was classic, “AOC, Are you suggesting you want to pay people to stay home from the money you take by defunding the police? Or was that for the student debts you wanted to pay off, the Green New Deal or Medicare for All?”

“Where is the money,” Nikki added in a hashtag.

Haley’s tweet was referring to AOC’s support for the “Defund the Police” policy promoted by the Black Lives Matter movement, her support for canceling student debt, her plan to combat global warming with the untenable Green New Deal, and her devotion to Medicare for All.

The tweet infuriated Ocasio-Cortez who shot back with a second tweet.

“Nikki, I’m suggesting Republicans find the spine to stand up to their corporate donors & vote for the same measures they did in March, except without the Wall St bailout this time,” responded Ocasio-Cortez. “And I know you’re confused abt actual governance but police budgets are municipal, not federal.”

AOC did not provide any facts or evidence to back that claim, however.

In another tweet, the “Squad” member went on to further chastize Haley over her alleged ignorance of the financial workings of government, while also blasting her and other Republicans for what she called “worshipping” President Donald Trump.

“Utterly embarrassing that this woman was a governor & still doesn’t have a grasp on public investment. Wonder if she says federal financing works like a piggy bank or household too? All this faux-seriousness from folks who worship Trump for running the country like his casino,” tweeted Ocasio-Cortez, accompanied by an “eye-rolling” emoji.

The Green New Deal has been pilloried due to its enormous price tag, which some experts estimate could be as high as $94 trillion. In June 2019, she admitted that it would cost at least $10 million and added that it was not a fun number to say. Many allege the plan is totally unworkable and would be catastrophic if it was attempted.

Ocasio-Cortez argued that the government could already have paid for two-thirds of the $32 trillion price tag for Medicare for All. But those numbers are said to not even come close to adding up. Again, AOC has not provided the math or how she came to her conclusion for her claim.
