Senator Perdue invites AOC to Georgia to campaign for his Dem opponent: ‘I want to buy her ticket’
Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue invited ‘Squad’ member New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) to his state on Tuesday to campaign for his Democratic opponent, John Ossoff. Perdue is an incumbent senator in that state who is facing off against Jon Ossoff in a heated Jan. 5 runoff election. He tied Ossoff and AOC together over her support of the radical Green New Deal.
“I want to buy her ticket. I want her to come.” Perdue said on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.” He’s playing on the issue that socialism is not popular in the South and AOC’s policies embody that political viewpoint. Ocasio-Cortez is also a huge proponent of defunding the police… another issue that does not play well in the Peach State.
“She’s going to be down here. I’m going to buy her a ticket! I want her to come down to Georgia. We’ll have that debate,” Perdue reportedly said.
In an interview with Mike Huckabee last week, Perdue said the “main difference” between him and Ossoff was “simple” to understand: Ossoff is a “socialist.”
Both Perdue and his fellow GOP incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler are locked in a do-or-die battle with their Democratic opponents in a pair of high-stakes runoff elections that could determine which party takes control of the Senate in January. The Democrats already control the presidency and the House of Representatives. A win in Georgia for the Democrats would give them full control of two of three branches of American government… the executive and legislative branches.
President-elect Joe Biden will travel to Georgia to campaign for the two Democratic challengers.
Perdue stated that AOC “wants the Green New Deal without compromise.”
“When the Democrats have total control, which is what they want, you will end up with massive sweeping changes in America that you would never be able to do with a bipartisan requirement,” Perdue said.
Perdue is not alone in using Ocasio-Cortez as a political smear against an opponent. Loeffler, who is facing off against the Rev. Raphael Warnock, has also inserted Ocasio-Cortez into the race, responding to a tweet the congresswoman posted last week that said people needed to stay home in order for the country to get the coronavirus pandemic under control.
“AOC wants to lock down our economy, lock the American people in their homes, and put the government in charge of every single part of our lives,” Loeffler tweeted, adding it was “no wonder” that Ocasio-Cortez supported Warnock.

AOC clapped back by stating that “disclosures show you seem to have gifted yourself private jet on [the] public dime & exploited corrupt tax loopholes to do it,” citing an article from Salon.
“If you’re happy helping yourself to public funds, maybe take a seat before arguing against stimulus checks to help everyday people in a pandemic,” stated the young progressive lawmaker.
