Trump sends well wishes after Biden fractures foot playing with dog, Twitter nicknames ‘Slippery Joe’

Presumptive President-elect Joe Biden slipped and fractured his foot while playing with one of his two dogs, his German Shepherd Major, on Saturday. The press was forced to stay in the vans while Biden was at the orthopedist and the public was not notified for 24 hours that he was injured. Biden visited an orthopedist at Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists in Newark, Delaware, for an examination Sunday afternoon.
Leaving the doctor’s office to head to an imaging center for his CT scan, Biden was visibly limping, though he walked without a crutch or other aid. Biden was still under examination more than two hours after arriving at the office Sunday afternoon.
President Trump tweeted out to Biden upon hearing the news, “Get well soon!” This seemed to surprise the media.

Biden will be the oldest president in history at 78 years-old and his health will likely be an ongoing subject of concern. He will wear a walking boot for several weeks as his ankle heals. Originally, it was thought he sprained his right foot and that there were no obvious fractures. But after a CT scan, given out of an abundance of caution, Dr. Kevin O’Connor confirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden’s lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot.
Biden released a doctor’s report in December that disclosed he takes a statin to keep his cholesterol at healthy levels, but his doctor described him as “healthy, vigorous” and “fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency.”
Reporters repeatedly requested to observe Biden at the doctor’s office and were rebuffed and denied access. Images showed Biden’s motorcade arriving at the Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists office on Sunday afternoon and leaving Sunday night. Secret Service agents were outside the office as Biden was examined by the doctor.

The Bidens adopted Major in 2018 from a rescue shelter, and acquired their first dog, Champ, after the 2008 election. Major will become the first rescue dog to live in the White House. They also plan to get a cat.
Shortly after Biden visited the doctor, the Instagram fan page for Biden’s dogs, shared an ‘apology’ from Major and an ‘official’ statement.
“Paw my god! Dad @JoeBiden, I’m so, sooo sorry I pulled super hard when we played tug-of-war earlier. I am still a puppy & very high energy, I am so sorry you sprained your ankle because of me,” the post reads.
“I pawmise to make it up with lots of kisses. I’ll be good, I pawmise.”
The account released a statement with 41 barks that translated into: “I wish my adopted father a speedy recovery but I strongly maintain that I have done nothing wrong.”
“I look forward to the Secret Service’s investigation, which I expect will confirm that I am a very good boy.”
