Owens shreds AOC, calls her ‘spoiled rotten brat’ for saying Repubs don’t know hard work

Conservative activist Candace Owens took aim at progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Saturday and nailed her as a “spoiled rotten brat” for her remarks about Republicans supposedly not knowing the meaning of hard work. She was far from alone in slamming the young socialist but Owens’ words cut to the heart of the matter.

The self-proclaimed radical on Thursday tweeted that Republicans who “like to make fun of” her for having been a waitress couldn’t make it through a double shift without crying. “Republicans like to make fun of the fact that I used to be a waitress, but we all know if they ever had to do a double they’d be the ones found crying in the walk-in fridge halfway through their first shift bc someone yelled at them for bringing seltzer when they wanted sparkling,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

Owens took issue with the statement and blasted AOC’s idea of hard work as not only laughable but how it revealed her coastal elitism.

“I used to be a waitress and I worked doubles,” Owens tweeted back. “I am laughing out loud at how much of a coastal elitist you have to be to view that as the definition of a hard day at work. Please get on a plane and see the rest of the world (or country) you spoiled rotten brat.”

She added: “And then he sent his French fries back THREE times! Republicans could NEVER handle that.”

When another Twitter user accused Owens of “putting down the hard-working service people across the country,” Owens shrugged it off.

“LMAO. I did work YEARS in their shoes. I waitressed since I was 17. I’m speaking from experience,” Owens responded.

“It’s long work, it’s tiring work, it’s respectable work— but it’s privileged work compared to what most others endure across this country and in the world,” Candace continued.

Congressman Paul Mitchell quoted AOC’s original tweet and called comments by Ocasio-Cortez “ridiculous stereotyping.”

“This comment is ridiculous stereotyping. I delivered newspapers year-round on foot or on my bike for several years. Worked numerous doubles in Respiratory Therapy where a mistake could result in death. Worked nearly full time to pay for college. What do I not understand?” Mitchell tweeted on Friday.

In response, AOC shot back: “My comments were directed at Republicans who mock my history in service work. That includes President Trump, who you’ve stood by and defended through such attacks, by the way.”

She continued: “But if that boorishness doesn’t apply to you, then why feel the rush to defend yourself?”

Then AOC turned to age-shaming. “These Republicans who are defensively rage-tweeting ‘But you’re wrong! I worked my way to pay through college!!’ don’t realize they sound like folks who speak of the days when Hershey bars were 5¢ at the general store,” she tweeted.

Ocasio-Cortez noted that college costs “have exploded over the last 10-20 years” while wages have not kept up.

“It’s a totally different landscape and the fact they’re using anecdotal experience from 20+ years ago to reinforce their opinions instead of looking at current cost/wage data is disturbing,” she tweeted.

What AOC did not acknowledge is the millions of conservative Americans of all ages who have worked as waiters and waitresses to put themselves through school. And many of them have children. As Marco Rubio put it… work harder, tweet less.
