President Trump suggests AG Barr be fired, says he ‘will do nothing’ about Hunter Biden

President Trump is evidently fed up with Attorney General Bill Barr and tweeted as much on Saturday, suggesting the Justice Department head was getting ready to give President-elect Joe Biden and his son Hunter a pass. Trump is also calling for Barr to be fired if he knew about the Hunter Biden tax investigation in April but failed to publicly disclose it.
Attorney General William Barr reportedly knew about investigations into Hunter Biden’s business and financial dealings for months and worked to stop them from being disclosed to the public during the election campaign. Something that has incensed the president. Barr has allegedly avoided providing information on the probes to congressional Republicans.
Trump also took aim at John Durham, a Department of Justice special counsel who has been reviewing the origins of the FBI’s Russia collusion investigation since May 2019.
“IF Biden gets in, nothing will happen to Hunter or Joe. Barr will do nothing, and the new group of partisan killers coming in will quickly kill it all,” Trump stated. “Same thing with Durham. We caught them cold, spying, treason & more (the hard part), but ‘Justice’ took too long. Will be DOA!”

“Why didn’t Bill Barr reveal the truth to the public, before the Election, about Hunter Biden,” Trump continued. “Joe was lying on the debate stage that nothing was wrong, or going on – Press confirmed. Big disadvantage for Republicans at the polls!”
News broke this week that the Justice Department has been investigating Hunter Biden since 2018. The probe reportedly involves information contained on a laptop.
The report comes the same week that Hunter Biden announced that the U.S. Attorney’s office in Delaware is investigating his tax affairs. The former vice president’s son said that he was informed of the probes when his lawyer was advised of the investigation by federal prosecutors.
Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are also supposedly investigating his business and finances.
In the lead-up to the election, President Trump and his congressional allies repeatedly pressed Barr to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hunter Biden, with Trump saying Barr has “got to appoint somebody. This is major corruption and this has to be known about before the election.”
Fox News reports that Hunter Biden is a subject/target of the grand jury investigation. A “target” means that there is a “high probability that person committed a crime,” while a “subject” is someone you “don’t know for sure” has committed a crime.
Biden’s transition team issued a statement shortly before the subpoena saying the former vice president was “deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger.”
In a statement of his own, Hunter Biden said “I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.”
On Saturday morning, Trump posted a tweet from conservative media figure Todd Starnes that read: “If the Wall Street Journal story is true and Attorney General Barr knew in the spring about the Biden investigation and kept it quiet — he should be fired by the end of business today.”
Trump stated: “A big disappointment!”
