Don Lemon’s unity: ‘Stop saying that we must respect Trump supporters who believe bullsh*t’
CNN’s Don Lemon had an epic meltdown with fellow host Chris Cuomo over President Trump’s insistence on investigating voter fraud. Lemon was especially unhinged over the president’s rally in Georgia Monday night where Trump once again attacked voter fraud in the state.
Lemon and Cuomo went to town decrying Trump supporters and what they labeled as ‘baseless claims.’ They claim the president’s supporters don’t deserve respect and basically insinuated they are dumb, dishonest sheep following Trump’s lead.
Lemon proclaimed he was shocked by how Republicans from states Trump is contesting are cool with objecting to the presidential election results, but not their congressional races. He alleges that their support makes no logical sense and he proceeded to go on an unhinged rant.
While discussing Republican lawmakers planning to object to the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win, Lemon said, “We have millions and millions of voters who believe this election was illegitimate and it was stolen. Why do they believe that? Because you have been telling them that. Of course, they’re going to believe it. If you would stop telling them that and start telling them the truth, then maybe they would believe the truth, that the election was not stolen and it was a clean election according to everyone who has investigated, most of them Republicans.”
He added, “So stop saying that we must respect Trump supporters who believe bullsh*t because it is bullsh*t that you have been feeding them. The president and you have been feeding them the BS, and now that they believe it, all of a sudden, again, another self-fulfilling prophecy and feedback loop.”
Lemon said that Republicans would be “p*ssed off” if Democrats did the same thing. But they have done the same thing in numerous elections. Cuomo hypocritically added, “The Democrats should get stepped on also if they do that.”
In regards to Republican leaders, Lemon also said, “Karma is a you-know-what.”
In response, Chris Cuomo stated, “I hope it goes bad” in regards to the Electoral College counting process set to begin on Wednesday so that voters will remember who stood up for what was right and who didn’t.
Lemon concluded the segment by saying Trump wouldn’t allow any Republican to become president but himself while Trump was still alive. Many contend it sounds like he’s inciting violence in his rhetoric.
On CNN Tonight, Lemon also called Trump’s attempts to overturn the election results ‘an attempted coup’ in response to The Washington Post audio of Trump calling Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Saturday.
During a rally in Georgia on Monday night ahead of the state’s two runoff Senate elections set for Tuesday, Trump continued to focus on voter fraud.
“There’s no way we lost Georgia,” Trump said to a cheering crowd. “I had two elections. I won both of them.”
“If the liberal Democrats take the Senate and the White House — and they’re not taking this White House — we’re going to fight like hell, I’ll tell you right now,” Trump continued.
