Great start to 2021: Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess lock horns over Capitol protests

Okay, who had Hercules vs. Xena on their 2021 bingo card? Could things get any stranger than superheroes clashing on social media… wait, of course, they can. Actor Kevin Sorbo who played Hercules and actress Lucy Lawless who played an iconic Xena had at it on Twitter over the Capitol Hill protest. The argumentative thread centered around a comment Sorbo made concerning the political views of some of the protesters involved.

Sorbo, a Christian conservative Republican, responded to a tweet Wednesday that included a photo of some of the Capitol rioters, along with the caption: “Do these look like Trump supporters? Or Leftist agitators disguised as Trump supporters…”

“They don’t look like patriots to me…,” Sorbo replied.

Well, actually, a number of them looked like a twisted version of Duck Dynasty versus Hägar the Horrible. But I digress.

A number of people out there believe that Antifa infiltrated the mob that broke into the Capitol building.

At least two known Antifa members were spotted among the throngs of pro-Trump protesters at the Capitol on Wednesday, a law enforcement source told The New York Post. They disguised themselves with pro-Trump clothing to join in the DC rioting, said the sources, who spotted the infiltrators while monitoring video coverage from the Capitol.

The original claim that the photo pictured disguised Antifa actors was also slapped with a warning from Twitter, reading in part, “There is no evidence so far to prove that Antifa activists were part of the mob that entered the building on Wednesday, according to fact-checkers from Snopes, PolitiFact, BuzzFeed News and other organizations.”

Well, Xena took exception with Sorbo’s tweets and proceeded to attempt a smackdown on Hercules.

“No, Peanut. They are not Patriots,” she wrote. “They are your flying monkeys, homegrown terrorists, QAnon actors. They are the d—–bags that go out and do the evil bidding of people like you who like to wind them up like toys and let them do their worst. #keepingYourFilthyHandsclean #enabler”

I think someone’s leather needs oiling.

Yes, devout Christians always go out and do such things according to leftists in skimpy leather armor and kick-*ss boots. Perhaps Xena should stick to warrior cries and flips. She’s banged her head one too many times it would seem. There goes another heroine. But at least she’s a progressive icon.

Lawless originally played the character, Xena, on the TV show “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys,” with Sorbo playing Hercules, before getting the wildly popular spin-off show, “Xena: Warrior Princess,” which ran from 1995 until 2001.

“Hercules: The Legendary Journeys,” ran from 1995 until 1999, and both actors appeared on each other’s programs.

I guess nothing lasts forever and politics outlives even superheroes. The two have never seemed friendly towards one another.

Twitter exploded over the exchange.

“2021 day 8: Hercules and Xena are fighting,” one commented.

“Always preferred Xena to Hercules,” another wrote, taking sides with the leftist princess.

Before Sorbo posted the tweet that set off Lawless, he wrote that “ANTIFA led the charge into the capitol building dressed as Trump supporters.”

Some people seem to mix up fantasy with real life, take for instance:

Could it be that Xena wanted some press? Nah, not noble Xena. She’s out fighting for climate change, illegal aliens, and LGBTQ causes… she would never do such a thing.

Think I’ll watch Galaxy Quest. Space aliens would be a welcome change these days.
