Cuomo and Lemon – the justice brothers: BLM riots were more ‘justified’ than Capitol Hill riot
CNN anchors Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo, more aptly known now as the Justice Brothers, put forth on Tuesday evening that the riot on Capitol Hill last Wednesday was different than the Black Lives Matter riots last summer and not as ‘justified’.
The boys pretty much argued that the Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots from last spring and summer were trendier than last week’s Capitol Hill attack because they were “justified” and the cases were not “apples to apples.” Violence is violence and the BLM and Antifa riots may have occurred in other places, but they were generally far more violent. Most of those guilty of that violence skated over it and the leftist media and Democrats have squelched references to it at every turn.
The whining was triggered after an exchange between Chris Cuomo and DHS Undersecretary Ken Cuccinelli who brought up the summer riots. He said, “They just haven’t done it at the Capitol. They’ve been doing it all over the country for seven months.”
Cuomo responded, “That matters. That matters. Overturning the election is different than being pissed off about being shot by cops.”
Just before the next CNN segment began, Don Lemon said, “That was a very important interview. And listen, I’m glad you mentioned about being shot by cops because you cannot compare. And I’m sick of people comparing. You can’t compare what happened this summer to what happened at the Capitol. It’s two different things.”
Really, Don? Americans are sick of your hyper-partisan hyperbole. Neither had a valid reason for getting their violence on.
Lemon continued, “One is built on people, on racial justice, on criminal justice, right, on reform, on police not beating up – or police treating people of color differently than they do whites. Okay? That is not a lie. Those are facts. Go look at them. What happened at the Capitol was built on a lie perpetrated by the president and the people who support him. So, just on that one merit, if you want to call it, it’s not comparable. That things are not comparable. So they should not be doing it. And stop this whataboutism.” He went on, “No one has ever, ever gone this far in terms of saying an election was illegitimate, with all the evidence we have that this election was legitimate.”
Those ‘justifiable’ riots by Antifa and BLM racked up over $1 billion in damages and destroyed many lives and livelihoods. People were injured and killed as well. They were certainly intimidated. And excusing that violence in the name of race and as an act to invalidate the police is just dishonest and dangerous.
Cuomo sneered, “The truth is, as soon as somebody says to you, Don, they are aware of what happened last week – ‘but this summer’ – as soon as the words come out of their mouth, they do not care about what happened last week. They know everything that you’re saying, and I’m saying. They get that it’s not apples to apples. What it is, is a reflection of the truth, of what is happening in this country. Which is there are people who don’t care, who don’t like what was done, who don’t believe that Black people are justified, and it’s why last week happened. And we can get angry too. That is the truth, and it is our problem.”
The only difference here is that the riots that the media and Democrats promoted and encouraged were the right kind of destruction because they say so. Riots on Capital Hill? Off to Gitmo with them.
Selective and biased outrage much? The lies are impressive and the hatred is palpable. Remember when Chris Cuomo said, “Please, show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful.” Both of these guys have condoned violence on the left for a very long time.
The Right Scoop nailed it:
“Why do you think angry protesters stormed the Capitol last week? Because they saw BLM’s violent riots all summer long and the Democrat media loved it. They saw Antifa fight the cops in Portland, night after night, for months on end and the Democrat media dismissed it or ignored it. They saw Antifa literally take over a section of downtown Seattle, and Democrat leaders allowed it to happen for weeks, if not months, calling it the ‘summer of love’. Violence begets violence, and that’s part of the reason these protesters were so brazen to do what they saw both BLM and Antifa do all last year.”
There is no justification for violence on either side. Both must be punished and the rule of law enforced. That’s not what the Justice Brothers feel is real justice evidently.
