Quid pro Joe: Greene vows to file articles of impeachment against Biden for abuse of power

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the newly elected Republican from Georgia, is a spitfire. She has gotten in Democrats’ faces over wearing masks on the House floor and has been utterly fearless in standing up for what she believes is right. She went on Twitter Wednesday to announce that she will be filing tit-for-tat articles of impeachment against President-elect Joe Biden a day after his inauguration. That’s historic and well-deserved.

Greene stated in no uncertain terms that her motivation is to stand up for the 75 million Americans who are “fed up with inaction” in government. They also feel disenfranchised after this last election and no longer have any faith in the process.

“I would like to announce on behalf of the American people, we have to make sure that our leaders are held accountable. We cannot have a president of the United States that is willing to abuse the power of the office of the presidency and be easily bought off by foreign governments, foreign Chinese energy companies, Ukrainian energy companies,” said Greene.

“So on January 21st, I will be filing articles of impeachment on Joe Biden,” she added.

“It’s time to take a stand,” she said. “I’m proud to be the voice of Republican voters who have been ignored.”

She doesn’t give a rip what everyone thinks of her. At least she has a spine. A number of Republicans seem to be missing theirs these days.

President Trump was impeached by the U.S. House for a historic second time Wednesday, charged with “incitement of insurrection” over the deadly riot at the Capitol. It has no basis in fact. Trump did not call for violence and this is a political maneuver by the left to ensure he cannot run for the presidency in 2024.

NewsmaxTV host Greg Kelly stated the effort would have a slim chance of success in the Democratically-controlled House of Representatives and asked her if it would be merely symbolic.

“Well, like I said, I’m a big believer of having people in office that are actually willing to do the job. And I can’t imagine people in this country being so fearful of a future of a Biden presidency that they may be willing to commit violence like they did in the Capitol here in Washington, D.C.,” said Greene.

“We cannot have that, I do not condone that violence. The American people need hope,” she added. “They need to know that there are Republicans in Congress that are willing to stand up and fight for them, regardless of being in a minority, regardless of having all odds against us, against me, or against anyone in Congress. We have to hold people accountable.”

Greene went on to recite past Biden controversies including the ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop.

“This is a dangerous threat to our country when we have a man that will be holding the power of the presidency will so easily and is on record for abusing power,” she said.

Ten Republicans turned on Trump and betrayed him and their party by joining Democrats who said he needed to be held accountable and who warned ominously of a “clear and present danger” if Congress should leave him unchecked before Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20. They fear Trump a great deal which is a good thing.

“If they want to lower the bar on what impeachment is, then yes, let’s roll with it,” Greene said. “Americans want this to happen. Americans are sick and tired and fed up.”

Greene was not specific on exactly what the articles of impeachment would entail but she did bring up Biden’s business connections in China and Ukraine. She focused on the potential abuse of power by Biden and the possibility of violence by an angered American public. She tweeted the panel discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations where Biden talked about how he urged Ukrainian officials to fire Viktor Shokin, the country’s prosecutor in 2015, while he was vice president.

The filing by Greene would indeed be symbolic as no Democrat would support it and most of the fall-in-line Republicans wouldn’t either. But it will illuminate how feckless many Republicans are. Democrats will control Congress, and she would need a simple majority of the members to bring the charges to the Senate. That will not happen.

The calls from both sides of the aisle for unity ring hollow with Americans. The division sown by the left has fractured the Republican Party and disillusioned over 75 million Americans. Bad things follow when something like that happens in a country.

Greene has also hotly defended her decision not to wear a mask when locked in a secure room with other House members during the Capitol riot and pushed back hard against Democrats who are now blaming her and other maskless GOP members for their recent coronavirus positive tests.

She said she tested negative for COVID-19 on Jan. 4 at the White House and doesn’t believe that healthy Americans should be forced to muzzle themselves with a mask.

Green told TheBlaze: “Rep. Greene simply wants to be a voice for the voiceless. American conservatives have been banned, censored, deplatformed, and physically attacked. Unfortunately, that removes hope from the people. Congresswoman Greene wants to defend these Americans and represent the Silent Majority.”
