LOL! ‘Squad’ member: Repubs who don’t wear masks guilty of ‘chemical warfare’
Over the top, much? Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) on Wednesday accused Republicans who did not wear a mask while they sheltered during last week’s Capitol riot of engaging in “chemical warfare.” So, not wearing a mask now not only makes you a criminal, it makes you a terrorist. Good to know and America is listening.
“This is criminal behavior — that’s chemical warfare so far as I’m concerned,” said Pressley. “The science deniers allowed this pandemic to rage out of control.”
“This is exactly why we should be calling for the expulsion of these members. They are unfit to serve. When they took us to the safe room, and I walked in and saw, there was this contingent of anti-maskers gathered,” she added. “Imagine the choice that I was making.”
Imagine their choice upon seeing Pressley. Risk death or hate… choices, choices. It’s almost as good as ‘cake or death’.
Pressley is outraged at Republicans for daring to stand up to their betters and saying no-thank-you to masks while they were huddled in a safe room as protesters breached the Capitol building and disrupted certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory. There is no proof that they are spreading the coronavirus. It could just as easily be someone who is wearing a mask. They are not exactly 100 percent virus-proof, to say the least.
Ayanna is connecting this to her husband, Conan Harris, who was with her in the Capitol on Jan. 6 and who has since tested positive for COVID-19. Harris, who tested positive Tuesday night, has shown mild symptoms and is in isolation. Pressley has tested negative and is isolating along with staff members.
Boston.com is actually reporting that they don’t know how Harris got the virus but anything will do for a political talking point. Three other Democrats who were in the room with Pressley have tested positive, but the Republicans they are leveling blame at have so far tested negative.
“While Conan and I will remain in isolation in the coming days, I will continue to carry out my duties as the Representative for the people of the Massachusetts 7th Congressional District and look forward to holding this lawless president accountable for endangering our lives and our democracy,” Pressley said in a statement.
Pressley, Harris, and Pressley’s chief of staff were in various locations in the Capitol complex during the mob assault, including a secure room where the attending physician of Congress has said, people could have “been exposed to another occupant with coronavirus infection.”
Pressley left the room with her aides last week, she said, when she saw maskless members inside the Capitol. She has also claimed that the panic buttons were torn out of her office. Even left-leaning Snopes has been unable to verify that one.
“The second I realized our ‘safe room’ from the violent white supremacist mob included treasonous, white supremacist, anti masker Members of Congress who incited the mob in the first place, I exited. Furious that more of my colleagues by the day are testing positive,” she tweeted on Tuesday. That kind of sounds racist and there’s not a bit of evidence to prove any of it. It’s certainly defamatory and hateful.

“As my colleagues and I sought shelter from the white supremacist mob that violently attacked our seat of government, we were greeted by a different threat — one posed by my callous Republican colleagues who, in this crowded and confined space, repeatedly refused to wear masks when offered. Their arrogant disregard for the lives of others is infuriating, but not surprising, and we are seeing the consequences of it daily, as several of my colleagues — and now my husband — test positive for COVID-19,” Pressley said.
“I am deeply outraged by the criminal negligence of the current administration in responding to this crisis, along with their accomplices in Congress who continue to downplay the severity of a virus that has claimed the lives of over 380,000 Americans,” Pressley said.
Pressley said she was proud to co-sponsor a resolution with Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) to expel members for not wearing masks during the siege. Pelosi is now fining members $500 for not wearing a mask and $5,000 for evading the newly installed metal detectors. Submit or pay the price.
“That includes a strict mask mandate for everyone in the building, serious fines, and immediate removal from the House floor and House buildings for those who refuse to comply, and access to free, universal COVID-19 testing,” Pressley said.
The Republican lawmakers criticized for refusing to wear a mask during the lockdown are: Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, Michael Cloud of Texas, and Doug LaMalfa of California.
Pressley said her Republican colleagues who voted against impeachment have been “complicit from the very beginning” and are unfit to serve. She said lawmakers’ next orders of business should be to impeach, remove the president from office, expel those certain members of Congress, and conduct an investigation to “better understand the individuals and agencies that enabled this violent attack.”
