U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) called for the Indian government to be investigated Tuesday for the alleged assassination of a Sikh separatist in Canada
“The allegations that Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar was assassinated by the Indian government are deeply concerning,” Omar said in a tweet. “The US must fully support the Canadian investigation. We are also requesting a briefing on whether there are similar operations in the United States.”
Her tweet drew a response from Indian MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who reminded the Democrat of her PoK visit after telling her to “sit down” — POK stands for Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
“Sit down Madam Representative. Such be the case, as an Indian Parliamentarian I urge @MEAIndia to start an enquiry into how an elected representative in USA is interfering in the peace of Jammu&Kashmir via Pakistan funded PoK visit,” Chaturvedi replied.

The Hindu Times noted that Omar is “known for her anti-India stance on various issues,” and offered details of the “Pakistani-sponsored” visit in question:
In 2022, Ilhan Omar visited Pakistan, met Shehbaz Sharif and Imran Khan and also visited Muzaffarbad on PoK. India called it ‘narrow-minded politics’ and condemned the visit. In a recent report, it has been revealed that Ilhan Omar’s visit was sponsored by the Pakistani government, including her lodging and food. The congresswoman was also one of those who boycotted PM Modi’s speech at the US Congress joint session during PM Modi’s historic state visit to the US.
The dust-up over the alleged assassination was triggered by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who suggested that India had a role in the killing of Nijjar in Canada in June. India has categorically denied the claim.
Dalia al-Aqidi, a former journalist and commentator who has covered, terrorism, radical Islamism, and terrorist groups, who is running as a Republican to challenge Omar, was quick to respond to the latest controversy involving Omar.
“My opponent @IlhanMN was paid to visit Pakistan. The House financial disclosure showed that Islamabad had sponsored Omar’s visit from the 18th to the 24th of April, 2022—which included lodging as well as food. Just like her trip to #Qatar. She enjoys the company of Islamists!”

As for Chaturvedi, she was praised by her fellow countrymen for speaking out on the issue, as seen on X:
Respect to politicians and their supporters across party lines for standing up to Western political bullies who have a holier than thou attitude and believe they can accuse and malign India as they please.

This is how an opposition MP India should act. No matter how much you differ/disagree with govt. in power, but when it comes for country, stand united. Well done Ma’am
